American Legion Park

Center, Texas

MHS partnered with the City of Center to masterplan American Legion Park and pursue grant funding with Texas Parks and Wildlife. This approximately eight acre site is underutilized, but is home to the Community House, a early 1900’s building made of native stone that is currently used as a community center. The Community House has minimal outdoor space, and the vision for the masterplan shows an enhanced plaza, outdoor games, walking paths, nature trails, and pickleball courts.

Our team was able to secure two TPWD grants for this project. We are working closely with the City of Center staff and community members to carefully design American Legion Park to be a community focused space for social events, outdoor recreation and ecological conservation.
