CAD DRAFTER/DESIGNER

MHS Planning & Design is seeking a CAD Drafter to work in the Tyler office and in a team environment. The primary line of work is park planning & civil engineering; however, we are a diverse, multi-discipline group and this professional will coordinate with other disciplines in completing projects along with developing client relationships and pursuing new work. Project work will include park and trail planning and design, streetscape design, roadway landscape design, residential/commercial layout and design, and general site planning.

 

Qualified candidates must have an Associate degree from a drafting or design program and be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of all phases of project development including master planning through construction documentation. Experience in a civil engineering or multi-disciplinary firm is highly desirable.

 

Applicants should demonstrate strong design, project management, communication, and broad technical knowledge of construction documentation including, construction detailing, materials, grading, utilities, and drainage experience. The successful applicant should be committed to high quality design, an enthusiastic self-starter with a collaborative spirit and desire for learning.

This position will work with Engineers, Architects, and Planners, to provide production support on a wide variety of projects including urban planning and design, recreation planning and design, land development (residential and commercial), corridor planning and design and municipal projects.

​Responsibilities

  • Support senior staff with conceptual design, construction documentation, and plan production for a wide range of projects

  • Produce precise and consistent hardscape construction drawings and accurate project detailing

  • Support designers, civil engineers and senior staff with research and site analysis

  • Production of construction documents using Civil 3D

  • Consultant/Client coordination


Requirements:

  • Associate degree from a design/drafting program

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)

  • A minimum of 5 years of current working experience preferred

  • Excellent organization and communication skills

  • Maintain effective communication with project team members, and able to handle 3 to 4 projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work at a multi-discipline company in a collaborative project team setting

  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic

  • An interest in outdoor recreation and creating innovative public spaces

  • Portfolio or work samples will be required if considered for an interview
