Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Master Plan
Sunnyvale, Texas
MHS first partnered with the growing Town of Sunnyvale in 2019 through the Economic Development Corporation. As the Town was and is continuing to see growth, they recognized the importance of developing a high quality Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan that could assist in guiding future decisions by the EDC, Town Staff and Town Council. The Sunnyvale Parks System is unique since many of the parks are leased from the City of Dallas. MHS gained a wealth of knowledge in the process of developing a plan that fit the needs of the Town while abiding by all rules and regulations set by the land owners. The plan consisted of extensive public engagement and the design of site specific conceptual master plans for each park in the system.
The Town desired a high quality parks system and focused on the preference for quality over quantity. The Plan focused on developing existing properties within the Town with high quality recreational amenities such as amphitheaters, pavilions, playgrounds, spraygrounds, and trail systems.
